|
بِسْمِ ٱللَّـهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ |
In the name of God, the Almighty,1 the Merciful. |
|
|
حمٓ |
442 1 ḥā mīm1 |
|
|
وَٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ |
2 By the Clear Writ!1 |
|
|
إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ فِى لَيْلَةٍ مُّبَـٰرَكَةٍ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ |
||
|
فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ |
4 Wherein1 is separated every wise command |
|
|
أَمْرًا مِّنْ عِندِنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ |
5 By command from Us — We are sending — |
|
|
رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ |
6 As mercy from thy Lord; He is the Hearing, the Knowing, |
|
|
رَبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ |
7 Lord of the Heavens and the Earth and what is between them,1 if you are certain.2 |
|
|
لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ |
8 There is no god save He;1 He gives life and He gives death; your Lord, and the Lord of your fathers of old. |
|
|
بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّۢ يَلْعَبُونَ |
9 The truth is,1 they are in doubt, playing. |
|
|
فَٱرْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِى ٱلسَّمَآءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُّبِينٍ |
10 So watch thou for the day the sky will bring obvious1 smoke2 |
|
|
يَغْشَى ٱلنَّاسَ هَـٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ |
11 Covering mankind: “This is a painful punishment! |
|
|
رَّبَّنَا ٱكْشِفْ عَنَّا ٱلْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ |
12 “Our Lord: remove Thou from us the punishment; we are believers!”1 |
|
|
أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ وَقَدْ جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّبِينٌ |
13 How should they have the reminder when a clear messenger has come to them,1 |
|
|
ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا۟ مُعَلَّمٌ مَّجْنُونٌ |
14 Then they turned away from him and said: “One taught and possessed”?1 |
|
|
إِنَّا كَاشِفُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُمْ عَآئِدُونَ |
15 We, indeed, remove the punishment a little; you, indeed, revert.1 |
|
|
يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ ٱلْبَطْشَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ |
16 The day We seize with the greatest seizing We will take retribution! |
|
|
وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ |
17 And We had subjected the people of Pharaoh1 before them to means of denial,2 and there came to them a noble messenger: |
|
|
أَنْ أَدُّوٓا۟ إِلَىَّ عِبَادَ ٱللَّـهِ إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ |
18 “Deliver up to me the servants of God; I am to you a trustworthy messenger.” |
|
|
وَأَن لَّا تَعْلُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّـهِ إِنِّىٓ ءَاتِيكُم بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ |
19 And: “Exalt not yourselves against God; I bring you a clear authority.” |
|
|
وَإِنِّى عُذْتُ بِرَبِّى وَرَبِّكُمْ أَن تَرْجُمُونِ |
20 And: “I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord lest you stone me.” |
|
|
وَإِن لَّمْ تُؤْمِنُوا۟ لِى فَٱعْتَزِلُونِ |
21 And: “If you believe me not, then stay away from me.” |
|
|
فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ قَوْمٌ مُّجْرِمُونَ |
22 And he called to his Lord that these were a people of lawbreakers. |
|
|
فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِى لَيْلًا إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ |
23 “Then travel thou with My servants by night: — you will be followed. |
|
|
وَٱتْرُكِ ٱلْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا إِنَّهُمْ جُندٌ مُّغْرَقُونَ |
24 “And leave thou the sea tranquil: — they are a force to be drowned.” |
|
|
كَمْ تَرَكُوا۟ مِن جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ |
25 How many were the gardens and springs they left |
|
|
وَزُرُوعٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ |
26 And cornlands and noble station1 |
|
|
وَنَعْمَةٍ كَانُوا۟ فِيهَا فَـٰكِهِينَ |
27 And prosperity wherein they found gladness! |
|
|
كَذَٰلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَـٰهَا قَوْمًا ءَاخَرِينَ |
28 Thus!1 And We gave it as an inheritance to another people. |
|
|
فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُنظَرِينَ |
29 And the heaven and the earth wept not for them, nor were they granted respite, |
|
|
وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْمُهِينِ |
30 And We delivered the children of Israel from the humiliating punishment, |
|
|
مِن فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَالِيًا مِّنَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ |
31 From Pharaoh:1 — he was a high one among the committers of excess. |
|
|
وَلَقَدِ ٱخْتَرْنَـٰهُمْ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عَلَى ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ |
32 And We chose them,1 according to knowledge, above all mankind, |
|
|
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلَـٰٓؤٌا۟ مُّبِينٌ |
33 And We gave them among proofs1 that wherein was a clear trial. |
|
|
إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَيَقُولُونَ |
34 These1 say: |
|
|
إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنشَرِينَ |
35 “There is only our former1 death, and we will not be raised. |
|
|
فَأْتُوا۟ بِـَٔابَآئِنَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ |
36 “So bring us our fathers, if you be truthful.”1 |
|
|
أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ أَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ مُجْرِمِينَ |
37 Are they better, or the people of Tubbaʿ?1 And those before them we destroyed: — they were lawbreakers. |
|
|
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَـٰعِبِينَ |
38 And We created not the heavens and the earth and what is between them1 in play. |
|
|
مَا خَلَقْنَـٰهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ |
39 We created them not but in truth,1 but most of them know not. |
|
|
إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ مِيقَـٰتُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ |
40 The Day of Decision will be their appointed time all together, |
|
|
يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى مَوْلًى عَن مَّوْلًى شَيْـًٔا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ |
41 The day a friend1 can in nothing avail a friend;2 nor will they be helped, |
|
|
إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ ٱللَّـهُ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ |
42 Save he on whom God has mercy; He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. |
|
|
إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ ٱلزَّقُّومِ |
43 The Tree of Zaqqūm1 |
|
|
طَعَامُ ٱلْأَثِيمِ |
44 Is the food of the sinful, |
|
|
كَٱلْمُهْلِ يَغْلِى فِى ٱلْبُطُونِ |
45 Like molten brass, it boils in the bellies |
|
|
كَغَلْىِ ٱلْحَمِيمِ |
46 Like the boiling of scalding water: |
|
|
خُذُوهُ فَٱعْتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ |
47 “Take him, and drag him into the midst of Hell, |
|
|
ثُمَّ صُبُّوا۟ فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِۦ مِنْ عَذَابِ ٱلْحَمِيمِ |
48 “Then pour over his head from the punishment of scalding water!” |
|
|
ذُقْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْكَرِيمُ |
49 “Taste thou — thou art the exalted in might, the noble! |
