In the name of God, the Almighty,¹ the Merciful.

¹ qāf ¹ By the glorious Qur’an!²

² The truth is,¹ they marvel that a warner has come to them from among them. And the false claimers of guidance² say: “This is an amazing thing:

³ “When we are dead and become dust[...]?¹ That is a far² return!”

⁴ We know what the earth diminishes of them. And with Us is a preserving Writ.¹

⁵ The truth is,¹ they denied the truth² when it came to them, so they are in a confused state.

⁶ Have they not looked at the sky above them: — how We have built it, and made it fair, and it has no rifts?

⁷ And the earth: — We spread it out, and cast therein firm mountains; and We caused to grow therein every¹ delightsome kind²

⁸ As means of insight and a reminder for every repenting servant.

⁹ And We sent down from the sky blessed water, and caused to grow thereby gardens and the grain of harvest,

¹⁰ And tall date-palms with spathes in layers

¹¹ As a provision for the servants.¹ And therewith gave We life to a dead land. Thus will be the Emergence.

¹² There denied before them the people of Noah, and the companions of Al-Rass,¹ and Thamūd,

¹³ And ʿĀd, and Pharaoh,¹ and the brethren of Lot,

¹⁴ And the companions of the woods,¹ and the people of Tubbaʿ.² Every one denied the messengers, so My warning³ became binding.⁴

¹⁵ Were We then wearied by the first creation? Yet¹ they are in doubt about a new creation.

¹⁶ And We have created man; and We know what his soul whispers within him; and We are nearer to him than the jugular vein:

¹⁷ When the two recorders¹ record sitting on the right and on the left,

¹⁸ He utters not a word save with him is a watcher ready.

¹⁹ And the intoxication of death will bring the truth:¹ — “That is what thou wast avoiding!” —

²⁰ And the Trumpet will be blown; that is the Day of Warning!¹

²¹ And every soul will come, with it a driver and a witness:¹

²² “Thou wast in heedlessness of this; and We have removed from thee thy veil, and sharp is thy sight this day!”¹

²³ And his companion¹ will say: “This is what is with me prepared.”

²⁴ “Cast, you twain,¹ into Gehenna every obstinate rejecter,

²⁵ “Hinderer of good, transgressor, doubter,

²⁶ “Who set up, with God, another god! Cast him, you twain,¹ into the severe punishment!”

²⁷ His companion¹ will say: “Our Lord: I did not cause him to transgress, but he was in extreme error.”

²⁸ He will say: “Contend¹ not before Me; I had sent the warning² ahead to you.

²⁹ “The word with Me will not be changed; and I am not unjust to the servants.”

³⁰ The day We say to Gehenna: “Art thou filled?” And it will say: “Is there any more?”

³¹ And the Garden will be brought nigh: — to those of prudent fear,¹ not far —

³² “This is what you were promised, for every preserving¹ penitent,

³³ “Who feared the Almighty¹ unseen, and came with a repentant heart:

³⁴ “Enter it in peace!” That is the Day of Eternity;

³⁵ They have what they desire therein; and with Us is more.

³⁶ And how many a generation We destroyed before them stronger than them in might! And they penetrated into¹ the land; had they any place of refuge?²

³⁷ In that is a reminder for him who has a heart or gives ear with a conscious mind.¹

³⁸ And We created the heavens and the earth and what is between them¹ in six days,² and there touched Us no weariness.

³⁹ So be thou patient over what they say, and give thou glory¹ with the praise of thy Lord before the rising of the sun, and before its² setting.

⁴⁰ And some of the night, glorify¹ thou Him; and at the ends of the Submission.²

⁴¹ And listen thou for the day the Caller will call from a near place,

⁴² The day they will hear the Blast in truth:¹ that is the Day of Emergence:

⁴³ — It is We who give life, and We give death; and to Us is the journey’s end —

⁴⁴ The day the earth is split asunder from about them, they hastening forth;¹ that is a gathering easy for Us.

⁴⁵ We best know what they say; and thou art not a tyrant over them. But remind thou with the Qur’an¹ him who fears My warning.²
