|
بِسْمِ ٱللَّـهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ |
In the name of God, the Almighty,1 the Merciful. |
|
|
وَٱلصَّـٰٓفَّـٰتِ صَفًّا |
372 1 By those lined up in rows, |
|
|
فَٱلزَّٰجِرَٰتِ زَجْرًا |
||
|
فَٱلتَّـٰلِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا |
3 And the reciters of a remembrance!1 |
|
|
إِنَّ إِلَـٰهَكُمْ لَوَٰحِدٌ |
4 Your God is One: |
|
|
رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ |
5 Lord of the Heavens and the Earth and what is between them,1 and the Lord of the Easts.2 |
|
|
إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ ٱلْكَوَاكِبِ |
6 We have adorned the lower heaven with the adornment of the stars |
|
|
وَحِفْظًا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَـٰنٍ مَّارِدٍ |
7 And as protection against every refractory satan.1 |
|
|
لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍ |
8 They listen not to the exalted assembly,1 and they are pelted2 from every side, |
|
|
دُحُورًا وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَاصِبٌ |
9 Repelled — and they have a constant punishment — |
|
|
إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ ٱلْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ |
10 Save he who snatches a fragment; and a piercing flame follows1 him. |
|
|
فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَآ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُم مِّن طِينٍ لَّازِبٍۭ |
11 So ask thou them: are they1 harder to create, or those We have created?2 We created them3 of clinging clay. |
|
|
بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ |
12 Yet1 thou dost marvel; and they deride |
|
|
وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ لَا يَذْكُرُونَ |
13 And, when they are reminded, bear not in mind |
|
|
وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ ءَايَةً يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ |
14 And, when they see a proof,1 turn in derision. |
|
|
وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ |
15 And they say: “This is only obvious sorcery.1 |
|
|
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ |
16 “When we are dead and are dust and bones, will we be raised? |
|
|
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ |
17 “And will our forefathers?” |
|
|
قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَٰخِرُونَ |
18 Say thou: “Yea, and you will be abased.” |
|
|
فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ |
19 Then will it be but one cry — and then will they be looking on — |
|
|
وَقَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَا هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ |
20 And they will say: “Woe is us! This is the Day of Judgment.”1 |
|
|
هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ |
21 “This is the Day of Decision which you denied! |
|
|
ٱحْشُرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْبُدُونَ |
22 “Gather those who did wrong, and their wives,1 and what they served |
|
|
مِن دُونِ ٱللَّـهِ فَٱهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ |
23 “Instead of1 God, and guide them to the path of Hell! |
|
|
وَقِفُوهُمْ إِنَّهُم مَّسْـُٔولُونَ |
24 “But stop them — they are to be questioned: |
|
|
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ |
25 “What ails you that you help not one another?” |
|
|
بَلْ هُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ |
26 The truth is1 they, this day, are in submission! |
|
|
وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ |
27 And they will draw near to one another, asking one of another, |
|
|
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ |
28 They will say: “You came to us from the right hand[...].”1 |
|
|
قَالُوا۟ بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ |
||
|
وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَـٰنٍۭ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا طَـٰغِينَ |
30 “And we had over you no authority. The truth is,1 you were people transgressing all bounds,2 |
|
|
فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَآ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ |
31 “So the word of our Lord has become binding1 upon us: We are to taste[...].2 |
|
|
فَأَغْوَيْنَـٰكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَـٰوِينَ |
32 “And we caused you to err — we were those who err.” |
|
|
فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِى ٱلْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ |
||
|
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ |
34 Thus do We with the lawbreakers. |
|
|
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّـهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ |
35 They — when it was said to them: “There is no god save God,” — waxed proud, |
|
|
وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَّجْنُونٍۭ |
36 (And they said: “Are we to leave our gods for a possessed poet?” |
|
|
بَلْ جَآءَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ |
37 The truth is,1 he brought the truth2 and confirmed the emissaries: |
|
|
إِنَّكُمْ لَذَآئِقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَلِيمِ |
38 “You are to taste the painful punishment, |
|
|
وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ |
39 “And you will be rewarded only for what you did.”) |
|
|
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّـهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ |
40 Save the sincere servants of God.1 |
|
|
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ مَّعْلُومٌ |
41 Those will have a known provision: |
|
|
فَوَٰكِهُ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ |
42 Fruits[...].1 And they will be honoured; |
|
|
فِى جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ |
43 In the Gardens of Bliss |
|
|
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَ |
44 Upon couches,1 facing one another, |
|
|
يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍۭ |
45 Circulated1 among them will be a cup from a running spring, |
|
|
بَيْضَآءَ لَذَّةٍ لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَ |
46 White, delightful to the drinkers, |
|
|
لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ |
47 Wherein is no sickness, nor are they intoxicated thereby, |
|
|
وَعِندَهُمْ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ عِينٌ |
48 And with them maidens of modest-eyed gaze,1 |
|
|
كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَّكْنُونٌ |
49 As if they were eggs closely guarded. |
|
