|
بِسْمِ ٱللَّـهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ |
In the name of God, the Almighty,1 the Merciful. |
|
|
لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ |
902 1 I swear by this land!1 |
|
|
وَأَنتَ حِلٌّۢ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ |
2 — And thou art a freeman in this land — |
|
|
وَوَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ |
3 And by the begetter and what he begot! |
|
|
لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ فِى كَبَدٍ |
4 We have created man into adversity.1 |
|
|
أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّن يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ |
5 Thinks he that none has power over him? |
|
|
يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُّبَدًا |
6 He says: “I have spent1 abundant wealth!” |
|
|
أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّمْ يَرَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ |
7 Thinks he that none has seen him? |
|
|
أَلَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُۥ عَيْنَيْنِ |
8 Have We not made for him two eyes, |
|
|
وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ |
9 And a tongue, and two lips, |
|
|
وَهَدَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلنَّجْدَيْنِ |
10 And guided him on the two highways?1 |
|
|
فَلَا ٱقْتَحَمَ ٱلْعَقَبَةَ |
11 But he has not attempted the steep path. |
|
|
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْعَقَبَةُ |
12 And what will convey to thee what the steep path is? |
|
|
فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ |
13 The freeing of a slave, |
|
|
أَوْ إِطْعَـٰمٌ فِى يَوْمٍ ذِى مَسْغَبَةٍ |
14 Or feeding in a day of starvation |
|
|
يَتِيمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ |
15 A fatherless1 relation |
|
|
أَوْ مِسْكِينًا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍ |
16 Or one needy in misery, |
|
|
ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلْمَرْحَمَةِ |
17 Then being among those who heed warning,1 and counsel one another to patience, and counsel one another to compassion.2 |
|
|
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ |
18 Those are the companions of the right.1 |
|
|
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا هُمْ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ |
19 But those who deny Our proofs1 — they are the companions of the left.2 |
|
|
عَلَيْهِمْ نَارٌ مُّؤْصَدَةٌۢ |
20 Upon them will a Fire be closed in. |
|
