بِسْمِ ٱللَّـهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of God, the Almighty,1 the Merciful.

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْفِيلِ

1 Hast thou not considered1 how thy Lord did with the companions2 of one weak in judgment?3

أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِى تَضْلِيلٍ

2 Did He not make their plan go astray?1

وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ

3 And He sent against them flights1 in droves2

تَرْمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٍ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ

4 Striking them with stones of baked clay.1

فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَّأْكُولٍۭ

5 Then He made them like eaten straw.
