|
بِسْمِ ٱللَّـهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ |
In the name of God, the Almighty,1 the Merciful. |
|
|
وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ |
832 1 Woe to the unfair traders:1 — |
|
|
ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكْتَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ |
2 Those who, when they take measure from men, take in full, |
|
|
وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ |
3 But when they give them by measure or give them by weight, cause loss. |
|
|
أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ |
4 Do those not think that they will be raised |
|
|
لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ |
5 To a tremendous day: — |
|
|
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ |
6 A day men will stand before the Lord of All Creation? |
|
|
كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْفُجَّارِ لَفِى سِجِّينٍ |
||
|
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ |
8 And what will convey to thee what Sijjīn1 is? |
|
|
كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ |
9 A writ1 inscribed! |
|
|
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ |
10 Woe, that day, to the deniers,1 |
|
|
ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ |
11 Those who deny the Day of Judgment!1 |
|
|
وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ |
12 And none denies it save every sinful transgressor. |
|
|
إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ |
13 When Our proofs1 are recited to him, he says: “Legends of the former peoples.” |
|
|
كَلَّا بَلْ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ |
14 No, indeed!1 The truth is,2 what they earned conquered3 their hearts. |
|
|
كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ |
15 No, indeed!1 From their Lord, that day, will they be veiled; |
|
|
ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا۟ ٱلْجَحِيمِ |
16 Then will they burn in Hell; |
|
|
ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ |
17 Then will it be said: “This is that which you denied.” |
|
|
كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْأَبْرَارِ لَفِى عِلِّيِّينَ |
||
|
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ |
19 And what will convey to thee what ʿIlliyyūn1 is? |
|
|
كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ |
20 A writ1 inscribed |
|
|
يَشْهَدُهُ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ |
21 To which bear witness those brought near!1 |
|
|
إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ |
22 The virtuous will be in bliss, |
|
|
عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ |
23 Upon couches looking on. |
|
|
تَعْرِفُ فِى وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ |
24 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the radiance of bliss. |
|
|
يُسْقَوْنَ مِن رَّحِيقٍ مَّخْتُومٍ |
25 They will be given to drink of a wine sealed, |
|
|
خِتَـٰمُهُۥ مِسْكٌ وَفِى ذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلْمُتَنَـٰفِسُونَ |
26 Whose seal is musk — and for that let aspire those who aspire1 — |
|
|
وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ |
27 And its mixture of Tasnīm:1 |
|
|
عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ |
28 A spring whereat drink those brought near.1 |
|
|
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا۟ كَانُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يَضْحَكُونَ |
29 Those who were lawbreakers laughed at those who heeded warning,1 |
|
|
وَإِذَا مَرُّوا۟ بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ |
30 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. |
|
|
وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُوا۟ فَكِهِينَ |
31 And when they returned to their people, they returned delighting. |
|
|
وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ |
32 And when they saw them, they said: “These have gone astray.” |
|
|
وَمَآ أُرْسِلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ حَـٰفِظِينَ |
33 But they were not sent as custodians over them. |
|
|
فَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ |
34 And this day those who heed warning1 laugh at the atheists,2 |
|
|
عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ |
35 Upon couches looking on. |
|
|
هَلْ ثُوِّبَ ٱلْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ |
36 Are not the atheists1 requited for what they did? |
