بِسْمِ ٱللَّـهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of God, the Almighty,1 the Merciful.

تَبَّتْ يَدَآ أَبِى لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ

1 Perish the hands1 of the father of flame,2 and perish he!

مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ

2 His wealth will not avail him, nor will what he earned.1

سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍ

3 He will burn in a fire of flame,

وَٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلْحَطَبِ

4 And his wife: — the carrier of firewood1 —

فِى جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِّن مَّسَدٍۭ

5 Around her neck a rope of twisted strands.1
